National Competition

There are many great prizes to be won

  • First prize A$3000
  • Second Prize A$2000
  • Third Prize A$1000

Thirteen finalists will receive A$250

Finalists will be treated to an all expenses paid, awesome four-day educational science camp and presentation event in Melbourne in February 2010. Part of this camp includes the final judging for the major prizes.

International Competition

The national winners of the national BHP Billiton Science Awards will have the chance to participate in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) in San Jose, California, USA in May 2010.

(NB: There are restrictions on eligibility to attend Intel ISEF. One requirement for those attending Intel ISEF is that students are in Year 9 or above for the school year in 2009, and not aged 21 or over.)

Other Cash Prizes

  • Up to four winning primary entries will win A$250.
  • Up to 60 semi-finalist entries will win A$100.

Encouragement Awards

Up to fifty primary students will receive encouragement award prize packs.
