A winner is selected from each state and territory. Winning classroom teachers receive travel to the Presentation Day in Melbourne.

One teacher will be selected to attend the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in San Jose, California, USA in May 2010. They will also have a supervisory role during that trip.

Travel, accommodation and meal costs will be covered for teachers attending the BHP Billiton Science Awards and any international competition.
