Stephen Ryde
Cherrybrook Technology High School, Cherrybrook NSW
Steven Ryde has impressed the BHP Science Awards judges in the past but his continued enthusiasm and dedication has this year resulted in his success as a BHP Science Teacher Awards winner.
Steven's commitment extends far beyond the classroom. In 1994 he established The Astro Club to promote astronomy to members of his school, Cherrybrook Technology High School, and the local community. Children and adults alike have been stimulated by Steven's wide range of science activities including the popular community astronomy nights.
Steven has been keen to share his expert knowledge through conference presentations, visits to surrounding primary schools to assist fellow science educators and through the development of a website that enables visitors to request images taken by the Club's own telescope and camera system.
