Tim Hoile
Star of the Sea School SA
Tim has shown long-term commitment to his special project - the development of a Marine Discovery Centre at his school, Star of the Sea School on Henley Beach in South Australia.
Tim has developed close links with a wide range of local environment and community bodies and industry to build the marine centre and has developed a reliable network of volunteers to help him maintain it. He has spent many hours outside the classroom, fundraising and seeking sponsors to bring his vision to fruition.
Tim has also taken every opportunity to share his work with peers. He has presented at many science conferences and his website has many activities and ideas available for teachers.

Helen's decade of commitment to science education is demonstrated by the evolution of a unique science education program. Helene initiated and now directs a state-wide Science Drama Awards program in Victoria. Students of all ages are encouraged to research a particular scientific concept or story, and then produce and perform an interesting dramatic piece to explain their findings.
Introducing creativity and the arts into a science curriculum was no mean feat 10 years ago. And Helene not only used innovative teaching practices in her own classroom, but through enterprise development and sheer hard work she encouraged others to participate and the Drama in Science Awards was born.
Helene's passion and enthusiasm for the project and her persistence in the face of the challenges confronting her are exemplary.
